Designer Notes

There’s little mixing and matching of design influences in this kitchen. Its Arts and Crafts style is apparent in every aspect of the room. The recessed cabinet doors are made from amber-stained quartersawn oak, and the hutch features mullioned glass, an arts-and-crafts staple. Another staple is stained glass, which is prominently featured on the lighting fixtures and above the hutch. Earth tones play a large role throughout the space, starting with the forest green paint used on some of the kitchen’s walls. The sink and faucet both add to the Arts and Crafts color scheme too; the sink is made from hammered copper, the faucet is finished in bronze. And the mosaic tile backsplash features stacked, shades of brown, copper and gray. Of course, this kitchen has more than a just a well-defined Arts and Crafts style. It also has a spacious layout that provides plenty of room for entertaining and preparing feasts. The large island – topped with beautiful slate colored laminate countertops – is the perfect spot for guests to gather or for prepping food. And a 48-inch, double-oven range allows for whipping up several dishes at once.
