Designer Notes

Furniture-style cabinetry rules this French Country kitchen’s look. A warm medium-brown stain on the base cabinets adds warmth, while distressed and glazed painted cabinetry in shades of black and mushroom have the patina of age. Using a combination of pewter and bronze hardware and paneling the refrigerator and dishwasher adds to the furniture look of the cabinetry. Arched entryways also add to this kitchen’s French Country appeal. A built-in bench in the bay window provides the look of true craftsmanship and makes for easy seating and storage. Glazed porcelain tile on both the floor and backsplash give the look of tumbled stone flooring with the easy maintenance of ceramic tile. Provencal-inspired fabric in shades of blue and yellow covers both the kitchen’s stools and chairs, adding to the French Country look. The room’s pastorally inspired palette allows for a subtle blend of neutral colors pulled from nature.
