Ingredients
Salad Ingredients
1 10 oz. bag mixed field greens
2 Bosc pears, sliced and cored
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup chopped candied pecans (Optional: Candy your own pecans with my awesome recipe included below!)
1/2 cup sliced red onion
Salad Dressing Ingredients
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
Candied Pecan Ingredients
2 egg whites
1 T. vanilla extract
1 pound pecan halves
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
1. Prepare candied pecans as follows: Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Grease one baking sheet. Get two large, gallon-sized ziplock bags. In one bag, place the egg whites and vanilla extract. In the second bag, place the salt, cinnamon, and sugar. Place all of the pecans in the first bag, seal the bag, and toss to coat. Then pour the entirety of the first bag into the second bag containing the sugar mixture. Again, seal the bag and toss to coat. Pour the contents onto a greased baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake at 250 degrees F for one (1) hour, shaking every 15 minutes to prevent burning. Alternatively, you can buy some candied pecans at the store (although I guarantee mine will be better!).
2. Prepare the salad dressing as follows: Combine all of the salad dressing ingredients (maple syrup, white vinegar, mayonnaise, salt, and sesame oil) in a blender. Blend well.
3. In a large salad bowl, combine all of the salad ingredients (mixed field greens, bosc pears, blue cheese, candied pecans, sliced red onion) and toss. Pour on dressing and toss to coat. Enjoy!
